Welcome to Ansbrook Rats

I breed rats as a hobby because I am interested in genetics, and rats happen to make wonderful pets!  I also hybridise Zonal Pelargoniums. (See “Geranium” tab.)

I am particularly interested in colour inheritance, but I also select parents (both with the rats & plants) that will produce healthy offspring with good type.

With the rats I specialise in Black Eyed Siamese, Essex, and Burmese, but I also breed most other colours including Blue & Topaz.  Occasionally I also have Dumbos and Rex available.

My profession as a Book-Keeper (Accounts) limits the amount of spare time I have, so I don't often show my rats or geraniums.   However, it’s always nice to hear from people who have done well showing my "babies".

In an ideal world my rat-does' would give birth to the right colours and number of kittens, and then there would be no surplus babies:-

However, they are not particularly interested in the Law of Averages, and they don't seem to co-operate by producing exactly what I want......So I do occasionally offer babies for sale !
